Beaches

Dubrovnik is primarily a summer resort, but one must leave the old town in order to go to the beach. The Lapad Peninsula hotels have private beaches which charge admission to people not staying in the particular hotel. The main municipal beach is at Ploča. Most of the Dubrovnik shore is rocky and not suitable for swimming. The best places for swimming are: Banje, Copacabana, St Yakov and the private Lapad beaches. There is an FKK (nudist) beach on the nearby island of Lokrum, but the rocks make swimming impossible; flat rocks are comfortable for sunbathing.
